School Workshops

Show Racism the Red Card is an anti-racism educational charity established in 1996.

We work in schools throughout England, Scotland and Wales delivering anti-racism workshops to more than 50,000 young people every year.

In some Local Authority areas we are funded to do this free of charge.

Our team of Educators can visit your school for a whole day educating young people from year 5 up to year 13.

To enquire about booking a workshop in your area click on the buttons below or to contact one of our Offices.

Primary Schools

Workshop Aims:

    • To educate young people about how to recognise racism
    • To consider the impact that racism has
    • To empower young people to challenge racism in the communities in which they live, providing them with relevant knowledge and information to enable them to do this.
    • To help young people prepare to play an active role as citizens in an increasingly multi-cultural society

Structure

Following a conversation with a team member and completion of a booking form, a date will be agreed and your school will be booked in.

Our workshops are fully participatory and interactive. Students take part in a range of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic activities designed to build empathy and understanding and to encourage discussion and critical thinking. Participants work independently and in groups to fully explore the issues.

By the end of our workshops young people will have:

  • A better understanding of what racism is and how it impacts on individuals and society
  • An increased awareness of the responsibility to challenge racism & how this can be done
  • An increased awareness of critical thinking and its usefulness in challenging stereotypes and recognising media bias

As our workshops involve participation and discussion we prefer to work with individual classes and visit a school for a whole day; however we are happy to discuss your needs with you and tailor the day accordingly.
