FEBRUARY CAMPAIGN EVENT ROUND UP

During the month of February we have continued to promote our message of anti-racism and equality in society. Here is a round-up of some of our notable events in sporting clubs.

Welcoming our New Trustees

We can proudly announce and introduce you to the newest members of our Board of Trustees. Our new Trustees join the existing team bringing with them a wealth of experience also the drive and focus to guide us through the coming years.

Venue for 2023 School Competition Awards Ceremony announced!

Winners from schools all across England will be recognised for taking ownership of the anti-racism message.

Milestone: One Million People

The beginning of 2023 marks a phenomenally exciting milestone for Show Racism the Red Card. We are fast approaching the day when we will have delivered anti-racism education to 1 million people in the UK.

SRtRC Attends Frederick Douglass Unveiling

On the 14th February 2023, a long running campaign to memorialise and celebrate one of history's foremost abolitionists, reached another significant milestone. Community leaders, local historians, members of the public, along with representatives from the worlds of anti-racism, politics, sport, faith and healthcare gathered together to unveil a plaque recognising the tireless anti-enslavement campaigning of Frederick Douglass.

SRtRC Scotland Visits Greenhill Primary School

On the 9th February 2023, Show Racism the Red Card presented two anti racism and anti discrimination workshops to P6 pupils of Greenhill Primary.

School Competition Launch | England

Last week, SRtRC supporters gathered to launch our annual School Competition at the UNISON Headquarters. The event was attended by sponsors and supporters of the Competition with speakers including Kevin Courtney (NEU General Secretary), Sola Kasali (EA SPORTS), Simone Pound (PFA), Paul Elliott (Former Footballer) & hosted by Margret Greer (UNISON).

SRtRC recognised as Changemaker in Wales

The SRtRC Wales team was honoured to be recognised as one of the 100 top ‘Changemakers’ in outgoing Future Generations Commissioner, Sophie Howe’s, definitive list.

SRtRC Scotland visits St Joseph’s RC Primary School

On Tuesday 24th January, Show Racism the Red Card Scotland visited St Joseph's RC Primary School in Linlithgow, to deliver anti-racism workshops to Primary 6 and Primary 7. This is our first time back at St Joseph’s since the Pandemic and we were overjoyed to be welcomed back with such enthusiastic learners.

Sunderland AFC Educational Event

Another local event for the Northeast campaign team as they made the short trip to the Beacon of Light to hold an educational event in partnerships with Sunderland AFC and the Foundation of Light. SRtRC Scotland visits UNISON Black Members Conference

On Friday 20th January, UNISON Black Members group kindly invited Show Racism the Red Card Scotland along to attend the Unison Black Members Conference in Edinburgh.This was the first time the event has been held in person since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and it offered us an opportunity to meet and talk to committed union members and activists from across the UK.
