Tottenham Hotspur FC Educational Event

In a powerful collaboration aimed at combatting racism and promoting inclusivity, Show Racism the Red Card joined forces with Tottenham Hotspur FC to host an educational event that left a lasting impact on over 60 young pupils.

The day began with an engaging antiracism workshop led by the passionate staff of Show Racism the Red Card. The workshop provided a safe space for the students to explore the complexities of racism, equipping them with the language and knowledge needed to confront discrimination head-on.

Following this, an eye-opening Hate Crime workshop delved into the realities and consequences of hate crimes. Show Racism the Red Card staff skillfully guided the pupils through thought-provoking discussions, empowering them to stand up against injustice.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the awe-inspiring tour of the iconic Tottenham Hotspur stadium. The young participants were treated to an up-close look at the magnificent venue, where dreams are forged, and history is made.

One of the most impactful moments came during the ‘Changemaker’ exercise. Here, the students were given the chance to brainstorm and present innovative solutions for fostering inclusivity within their schools. The enthusiasm and creativity that emerged from this exercise were nothing short of inspiring. A distinguished panel of guests was on hand to offer guidance and praise for the exceptional work presented. Spurs and Premier League legend Ledley King, Simone Pound, Director of Equality Diversity and Inclusion at the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), and England Cricket legend Monty Panesar graced the event. They not only commended the pupils for their outstanding contributions but also took time for pictures and autographs, creating unforgettable memories for all involved.

Simone Pound, reflecting on the event, stated, “Empowering young people with the space, language, and focus to address racism and discrimination is an important part of their learning. They came up with some fantastic work, and the opportunity to present it within Tottenham Hotspur’s beautiful new stadium will be a memorable lifetime experience. It was a pleasure to be on a panel with Ledley King and Monty Panesar. We all enjoyed the day immensely thank you Show Racism the Red Card.”

Ged Grebby, CEO of Show Racism the Red Card, expressed his enthusiasm, noting that the event “was an unforgettable day of empowerment and education. This event sets the standard for the new season, with the ‘Changemaker’ activity proving engaging and empowering for all involved.”

The Show Racism the Red Card and Tottenham Hotspur FC educational event stands as a testament to the power of collaboration, education, and advocacy in the fight against racism. It leaves a legacy of empowered young minds poised to create lasting change in their schools and communities.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Tottenham Hotspur FC for generously hosting this transformative event. Your support has provided an invaluable experience for the young participants, leaving a lasting impact on their journey towards inclusivity and understanding.

We would also like to express our special gratitude to the participating schools. Your commitment to this initiative is commendable, and it is through your dedication that we were able to create such a meaningful and empowering experience for the students. Thank you for being champions of change in your communities.
