#SRtRCSpotlight: Show Racism the Red Card’s Wales Launch Powerful New Education Pack
As Cymru’s women’s national football team secures its historic place at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland, Show Racism the Red Card is proud to mark this extraordinary milestone with the launch of an inspiring and impactful new education resource pack.
This brand-new, free anti-racism education pack is designed for schools across Wales and uses the excitement of the Women’s Euros to spark powerful conversations around racism, diversity, and equity. Developed by Show Racism the Red Card and shaped by the voices of the players themselves, this resource offers a unique and engaging way to promote inclusion in classrooms.
Football as a Catalyst for Change
The Women’s Euros 2025 is more than just a sporting event—it’s a moment of national pride and a chance to use the power of football to drive real social change. To celebrate this landmark qualification, key squad members including Soffia Kelly, Angharad James, Kayleigh Barton, Poppy Soper, and Tianna Teisar have recorded personal video messages of support. These videos, available to all schools that register, help bring the resource to life, connecting students directly to the players and reinforcing the message that sport is for everyone.
A Springboard for Meaningful Conversations
The education pack is not only about celebrating success on the pitch – it’s a tool to empower young people with the knowledge and confidence to challenge racism and celebrate diversity in their everyday lives. Through a mix of engaging classroom activities and thought-provoking discussions, students explore three core themes:
- Celebrating Diversity: Exploring the different backgrounds and identities that enrich our communities.
- Unpicking Stereotypes and Mapping Power: Encouraging critical thinking about the roles of media, culture, and history in shaping our perceptions.
- Challenging Racism and Practising Self-Care: Supporting pupils to be active allies while looking after their own wellbeing.
The pack includes a combination of active and desk-based tasks, printable worksheets, and PowerPoint presentations, all designed to be flexible and easy to use. Resources are available in both Welsh and English to ensure accessibility for all learners.
Widespread Engagement and Easy Access
Already, over 78,000 pupils from more than 300 schools across Wales have signed up to use the resource—a clear sign of its relevance and impact. Whether you’re a teacher looking to enhance your curriculum or a school leader aiming to promote inclusivity, this pack is the perfect starting point.
Dean Pymble, Campaign Manager for Wales shared:
“This education pack is about more than just football—it’s about using a moment of national celebration to inspire meaningful change. By linking anti-racism learning with the incredible achievement of Cymru’s women’s team, we’re helping young people see the power of inclusion, unity, and standing up to discrimination. It’s a proud moment for Wales, and an opportunity to shape a more equal future—on and off the pitch.”
An educator using our World Cup Themed Pack described the resources:
