#SRtRCSpotlight: Show Racism the Red Card meet Arbeit und Leben

Show Racism the Red Card recently held an interesting & productive meeting with Arbeit und Leben, an institution for political youth and adult education. It is supported by the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) and the German Adult Education Association (DVV). Their main areas of focus lie in political and social educational work.

The discussions with Arbeit und Leben are a reminder that the fight against racism knows no borders. Our conversation was open, honest, and deeply energising. We spoke about the urgent need to be actively anti-racist, not just in words, but in daily actions and shared the challenges we face in Britain today, from structural inequalities to the divisive impact of politics and media. They reflected on similar issues in Germany, drawing clear parallels in how prejudice and discrimination persist.

Together, we explored how to challenge racism in our workplaces, our communities, and in education, exchanging ideas on how to teach both young people and adults about the value of solidarity, empathy, and standing up for what’s right. These conversations reinforced that, while our contexts may differ, the struggle and commitment are shared. By learning from each other, we can build stronger, more inclusive societies on both sides of the Channel.

Head of Civic Education at Arbeit und Leben, Christoph Feick said:

“I would like to express my special thanks to Martina and the regional team for making the exchange with our group possible. Their commitment to fighting racism is very impressive, and the discussion showed us that we are – and must be – united across Europe against hatred and discrimination. We wish the charity all the best for the future and hope that it can continue its important work. Solidarity greetings from Germany!“

A special thank you from Show Racism the Red Card to Thompsons Solicitors for the use of their meeting room at Congress House in London.
