#SRtRCSpotlight: Promoting Allyship with Hibernian FC

This week, we spotlight our team in Scotland for achieving a roaring success with its third consecutive anti-racism club event, in partnership with Hibernian FC.

Over 75 pupils from three local primary schools; Leith Primary, Lorne Primary and St.Ninian’s Primary showcased their appetite for anti-racism with their enthusiasm and engagement. All three schools took part in workshops focusing on Allyship, Racial literacy and Discrimination. They also were invited on a tour of Easter Road.

In the afternoon, they were joined by Tiree Burchill and Jess Fitzgerald of Hibernian Women FC on the Q+A panel to answer questions created by the pupils based on their learning. The day was completed with autographs and a collective picture in the stadium stand highlighting the togetherness of the event.

“It is a pleasure to host ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ at Easter Road Stadium, welcoming local schools and educating young people from the community on the importance of the campaign. With many of the pupils attending being Hibernian supporters, it is vital that we engage with them in order to tackle racism on and off the pitch.”

– Hannah McLeaod (Events Manager)
