#SRtRCSpotlight: North West Team commence their ‘Train the Trainer’ programme
On Monday 9th March, the SRtRC North West team began their Train the Trainer programme in collaboration with the Yorkshire Prison Group (YPG). The programme marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between SRtRC and YPG, with the aim of training participants to deliver and promote anti-racism learning within their individual prisons.
The programme will support participants to develop the confidence, knowledge and skills needed to share SRtRC’s anti-racism message within their workplaces. During the first session, the group explored a range of key themes, including unconscious bias, understanding what racism is, allyship, and reflecting on everyday experiences such as microaggressions and privilege.
The discussions throughout the session were honest and open, allowing space for meaningful conversations, shared experiences and collective learning. This created a positive environment in which participants could reflect on their own perspectives while beginning to consider how they can support anti-racism work within their prisons.
The programme represents an important step in strengthening SRtRC’s work across the region and building long-term partnerships that support meaningful change in workplaces and institutions.
