#SRtRCSpotlight: Alexander McLeod Primary Hosts Transformative Teacher Training
Two educators from our Southern team, Gracie and Leon, delivered a two-hour teacher training session at Alexander McLeod Primary School in Greenwich, London. The topic was racism and how to tackle it in schools.
The delegates were given tools on how to deal with racist incidents among both students and staff, following discussions around micro-aggressions, racist language and unconscious bias. The staff were very engaged and asked some very important questions which led to some great discussions, enabling them to also learn from each other and empowering them to continue these conversations after the workshop.
Following the workshop, a couple of delegates had the following to say:
“The session was informative and engaging. It provided us with a safe space to share experiences and learn from each other.”
“I found the training so incredibly useful. It challenged my thinking in all the right ways and inspired me to further my own learning about racism. I feel sure this will positively impact the way in which I teach.”
“Our team enjoyed working with the staff at Alexander McLeod Primary School and are looking forward to coming hopefully come back in the near future to build on our discussions.”
