SRtRC sign national recognition agreement with Unite & UNISON

We mark a significant moment as the leading anti-racism educational charity signs a national recognition agreement with Unite the Union and UNISON.

Pictured are (Left to Right) Valerie Clark, Regional Organiser – Unite the Union, Simone Doyle, Director of HR & Support Services – Show Racism the Red Card and Terry Johnstone, Regional Organiser – UNISON Northern, who were the representatives from each organisation, in attendance for the signing.

Read on to hear what the representatives have to say on this crucial agreement between Unite the Union, UNISON and SRtRC.

Director of HR & Support Services at Show Racism the Red SRtRC, Simone Doyle said,

“It’s been a long time in the making, but this is another monumental step for us all.  After working positively with the Unions for so long, it felt only natural to formalise our relationship through this recognition agreement so that our staff can benefit from Trade Union membership as much as we benefit from our Trade Unions.”

UNISON Regional Organiser Terry Johnstone shares,

“As our region’s anti-racism lead I have had the opportunity to work with SRtRC to challenge racism and educate our members about recognising and challenging discrimination in their workplaces. Our work together has had a positive impact on our region and this is our next positive step. Entering into this formal agreement will help us build on our good relationship whilst supporting our members within the organisation.’’

Unite Regional Officer Valerie Clark added,

“This is great news for our members at the Charity, and Unite keenly anticipates drawing on their invaluable knowledge and experience of equality issues as we work in partnership at SRtRC. We look forward to the election of SRtRC Unite workplace representatives, and to welcoming them into the democratic structures of Unite, where workers’ diverse voices are the bedrock of our member-led union.”
