SRtRC x MUFC hold ‘Anti-Racist Captains’ event at Old Trafford

On July 4th, our NW Team delivered an Anti-Racist Captains workshop at Old Trafford to a group of Year 7, 8 and 9 students from Deans Trust Wigan Academy.

The participants, who had already been selected as anti-bullying ambassadors through the school’s work with the MUFC Foundation, learnt about Stereotyping, Inclusion, Allyship and Identifying and Challenging Racism.

After a variety of activities including freeze frames, role playing and investigating scenarios, they began creating their own anti-racism action plans to take back to school. These included delivering workshops and training for other year groups, establishing an anti-racism group in the school, ideas for celebrating Black history and a range of cultural festivals throughout the school year, and a social media campaign to promote inclusivity across the school.

Foundation staff will help them to develop and implement these action plans throughout the next academic year, and we hope to be able to support them in this
