SRtRC Wales Hosts Exclusive Webinar in the Lead-Up to Holocaust Memorial Day
Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) Wales, in collaboration with the Jewish History Association of South Wales, is set to deliver an exclusive education webinar in recognition of Holocaust Memorial Day.
The webinar aims to support educators in effectively teaching the Holocaust and integrating relevant resources into classrooms.
It will take place from 15:45 – 17:00 on Tuesday 21st January 2025.
If you would like to join the exclusive webinar, please register your attendance here to receive a joining link.
The webinar will explore critical questions surrounding Holocaust education, including why, what, and how it should be taught. It will also introduce Wales-related Holocaust education materials, providing guidance on how teachers can use these materials to enhance learning experiences.
This initiative is part of The Welsh Connection: Holocaust Educational Resources for the New Curriculum for Wales project, funded by The Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) and the Charles Wolfson Charitable Trust.
While the webinar will be delivered in English, all accompanying resources will be available in both English and Welsh, ensuring accessibility for all educators.
Dean Pymble, Campaign Manager for Wales, emphasized the significance of the event:
“Teaching about the Holocaust is an essential part of shaping a more inclusive and compassionate society. It is not merely a lesson in history but a profound reminder of what can happen when prejudice, hatred, and discrimination are allowed to flourish unchecked.
By educating young people about the Holocaust, we encourage them to reflect on the consequences of intolerance and inspire them to stand against racism and injustice in all its forms.
This education serves as both a warning and a call to action, showing us that silence can have devastating consequences.
In Wales and beyond, it is our responsibility to ensure that future generations understand the value of diversity, the power of empathy, and the importance of standing together against hate. The Holocaust teaches us the critical lesson that every individual has a role to play in creating a world where respect, dignity, and equity are not just ideals but lived realities”
Educators and interested participants are encouraged to attend and make use of the bilingual materials.
The webinar will be available afterward on our Education Hub.
