SRtRC & QPR celebrate International Women’s Day
On Monday, Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) partnered with Queen’s Park Rangers (QPR) in the Community Trust, to celebrate International Women’s Day, and held an inspiring educational event for 50 local schoolgirls.
The event, in collaboration with Premier League Inspires, was hosted at MATRADE Loftus Road Stadium and provided local pupils with Anti-Racism education and its intersection with gender, alongside a stadium tour. As part of SRtRC’s 30th Anniversary celebrations, our First XI Lionesses exhibition was displayed, throughout the tour and celebrated the impact of Black women on English football.
After lunch, our pupils were met by our exceptional panel who answered some thought-provoking questions from our young people. Former England captain, the first Black woman to captain the Lionesses and current manager, Mary Phiillip was joined by current players Kasha Pettit (Brentford FC, formerly of QPR) Mel Hall (St Albans City FC, formerly of QPR). Former QPR, Chelsea and Watford player Cherelle Albert was alongside the Professional Football Association’s EDI Executive, Simona Rakovic-Irish who completed our expert panel.
SRtRC Club Event Lead, Jack Cunningham commented,
“this was an inspirational event which highlighted QPR’s commitment within this space. Our panel was incredible and provided powerful advice to young girls that is so valuable in the current world.”

This was our second event with QPR in recent months and again highlighted their excellent work within this space. Thank-you to all the continued support from everyone at QPR in the Community Trust, to our wonderful panellists and to our amazing students who worked hard to create a fantastic day.
