SRtRC Official Statement: Now’s the time to promote unity, rather than division.
We are deeply concerned by the Prime Minister’s recent remarks targeting migrants. Language that dehumanises and scapegoats people seeking safety fosters division and encourages racism in our communities.
Migrants and refugees are not a problem to be solved – they are people with hopes and dreams. Many have fled unimaginable horrors. They deserve dignity and compassion, not hostility and blame.
At Show Racism the Red Card, we know the power of sport to bring people together. On the pitch, in the stands, and in our schools, we see every day how teamwork, respect, and diversity strengthen us.
Some of our most celebrated athletes and role models are themselves the children of migrants or refugees – an example of the incredible contributions people from all backgrounds make to society.
We reject rhetoric that divides us and stand for a society where everyone – no matter where they come from – is treated with fairness and respect.
We call on all political leaders to show real leadership: reject hateful narratives and celebrate the diversity that enriches our communities.
Together, through education, sport, and solidarity, we can fight racism and build a society based on inclusion and respect.
