#Spotlight: Anti-Racism with the University of Massachusetts
Over the past few weeks, North East educators have been delivering their bespoke anti-racism programme to the women’s soccer team from the University of Massachusetts.
“We are coming to the end of a very successful programme with the women’s soccer team from the University of Massachusetts. Our honorary president, Shaka Hislop, was key in connecting the team and the charity to further the outreach of anti-racism education in the USA”
– Justine King, Education Coordinator
The aim of this 8 week programme was for SRtRC to work with UMass in providing online anti-racism education to players, coaches and support staff. Topics explored have included unconscious bias, effective challenge, microaggressions and escalation of hate.
This project is soon coming to a close, but the North East educators have had a great time with the dedicated staff and the engaging young women on the team, and we hope to continue with further educational work in the States in the future!
