Show Racism the Red Card Wales statement on alleged reports of racist gestures at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday 7th March 2026

Show Racism the Red Card Wales are aware of the alleged reports of racist gestures made to Lincoln City captain Tendayi Darikwa during the fixture between Cardiff City F.C. and Lincoln City F.C. at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday 7thMarch 2026.

A spokesperson for Cardiff City Football Club has confirmed a full investigation with South Wales Police is being conducted.

Racism has absolutely no place in football or in our communities. Stadiums should be welcoming spaces where supporters from all backgrounds can come together to enjoy the game safely and respectfully.

Incidents like this are particularly worrying given the wider pattern we have seen across football this season. Across the game there have been growing concerns about discrimination and abuse, with reports showing that incidents of racist abuse in professional football have increased in recent seasons. This should serve as a clear warning that complacency is not an option and that the fight against racism in football is far from over.

While the vast majority of supporters stand firmly against racism, it only takes a small minority to cause real harm and undermine the inclusive values that football should represent. Clubs, governing bodies, supporters and community organisations must continue to work together to ensure that those responsible for racist behaviour are identified and held accountable.

At Show Racism the Red Card we believe education is the most powerful tool in tackling prejudice. Through our work with schools, football clubs and communities across Wales, we will continue to challenge racist attitudes and promote understanding so that football truly becomes a game for everyone.

No player, supporter or member of staff should have to experience racism. We stand in solidarity with everyone affected by this incident and urge anyone who witnessed or experienced abuse to report it so that appropriate action can be taken. Together we must make it clear that racism will never be tolerated in our stadiums or in society.
