See inside SRtRC’s Changemakers event day at Manchester City F.C.

Schools from across Manchester gathered at the Etihad Stadium for Show Racism the Red Card’s Changemakers event day. The students started the day with a number of anti-racism education workshops. They then went on to apply what they learnt in a creative thinking activity, thinking of ways to make a difference in their schools and how to implement active anti-racism. Attendees also got the opportunity to explore the stadium, first built ahead of the Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002.

City alumni Steve Howey and Alex Williams, along with Iffy Onuora and Ken Monkou, were on hand at the event to help guide the young people through an informative question-and-answer session, and to give feedback on their plans to become Changemakers.

The Etihad Stadium joins a growing list of high-profile venues for Show Racism the Red Card anti-racism education event days in 2023. So far we’ve visited Old Trafford, Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, Blackpool F.C.’s Bloomfield Road, and St James’ Park in Newcastle – just to name a few.

If you want to get involved with Show Racism the Red Card and help educate against racism, why not take part in this year’s Wear Red Day. It’s the UK’s anti-racism fundraising day, and joining in couldn’t be easier.
