Responding to Racism: Anti-Racism RCM Conference

The North West team delivered a highly impactful conference to RCM staff in Manchester last week (25th June 2024)

Co-delivered by our friends at Odd Arts the conference began with an inspiring performance of Odd Arts’ ‘Great British Lie’ which explores themes of Britain’s colonial past and the legacy of racism.

The rest of the day was spent exploring how we respond to racism, including practically role-playing some of those potentially difficult conversations, and culminated by exploring what allyship really means and looks like for us today but also through a historical lens.
Delegates ended the day reflecting on their key take-aways, what their actionable next steps will be and made anti-racism pledges.
SRTRC and Odd Arts thanks RCM staff for their active engagement throughout the day and we are looking forward to working with some of your activists in July!

When asked what one word would sum up the day:

‘Getting really practical ideas of how to challenge racism. Really liked the ‘this is my stance’ approach’

‘the team! Great energy, really interactive and the methods kept engagement really high’
