Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Anti-Racism Online Workshop

On Monday the 20th January 2025, young minds across the UK will have the chance to engage in a powerful educational experience, as Ian Bland Poetry for Primary School Children hosts an Anti-Racism Online Zoom Workshop in collaboration with Show Racism The Red Card.

This interactive event, scheduled to start at 9:15 am, aims to inspire Year 5 and Year 6 students to become active changemakers in their communities.

The workshop will explore the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a global icon of the civil rights movement. Participants will reflect on themes of equality, justice, and courage, culminating in the creation of impactful poems. These poems will serve as a testament to the students’ commitment to anti-racism and their understanding of historical struggles for social justice.

No prior knowledge is required to join this enriching event, which also complements the KS2 curriculum by providing valuable insights into history.

For just £50 plus VAT, schools will gain access to two Zoom connections, with additional slots available for purchase.

This workshop underscores the importance of teaching empathy and fostering inclusivity from a young age. It promises to leave students not only better informed about the struggles of the past but also inspired to shape a more equitable future.
