First 11 Black Players Exhibition: Middlesbrough FC

The ‘First 11 Black Players Exhibition’ highlights the achievements of the first eleven Black footballers to represent their clubs at senior level. From the early trailblazers who broke barriers, to more recent stars who have inspired on and off the pitch, this exhibition provides a look at how football’s history is intertwined with the wider narrative of diversity and inclusion.

Following on from last weeks’ opening event with Sunderland AFC, we are proud to unveil the First 11 exhibition of another long-time supporter of our anti-racism campaign – Middlesbrough FC

The exhibition features eleven banners that showcase each player’s respective contribution to the club, whilst paying respects to their cultural roots.

See below to learn about the ‘First 11′ Middlesbrough FC players and their contributions to the club.

Big thanks to the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), The Football Association (The FA) and the English Football League (EFL) for their support & sponsorship of the project. Finally, thank you to Richard Flash for the research behind this project and all at Middlesbrough FC for their collaboration on this exhibition and for sharing their history.
