#SRtRCSpotlight: Fans of the Future with Brentford FC

Show Racism the Red Card delivered a Fans of the Future workshop to students and discussed how to recognise racism when it happens, and how to safely challenge it. The pupils engaged brilliantly, eagerly answering and even shared personal lived experiences to support conversation.

Sam Stewart, Brentford FC Community Outreach Officer, who supported the day said, “thank you very much for giving up your time and presenting an excellent presentation on the day, I thought it was very insightful and a great educator for the students. In addition, the staff from the school also appreciated the assembly greatly and were glad to have you attend.”

The assembly was just one of many collaborations between the Red Card and Brentford Football Club this season, with the Premier League club supporting our new First Black XI project and even displaying the exhibition for local pupils at an event at the G-Tech arena, hosted by Brentford FC Hall of Famer, Marcus Gayle.

Jack Cunningham, SRtRC Educator and Club event lead in the South, commented, “This was another excellent collaboration with Brentford Football Club, in a season where our relationship with the Premier League club has developed tremendously. They have engaged in and supported our First XI project, hosted a brilliant club event at the G-Tech and now delivered a joint-session with one of their partner schools. I want to thank the team at Brentford for a wonderful season, and I look forward to working alongside the club next season”.

A big thank-you to the Orley Farm School for facilitating the day and to Brentford Football Club, and the team, for a wonderful season working together.
