Show Racism the Red Card were thrilled to visit Partick Thistle’s Firhill Stadium on Tuesday 5th February 2019.
The team delivered the anti-racism educational event to the very excited pupils from St. Charles Primary School and Dunard Primary School.
This was the final day of a programme of anti-racism workshops that the young people had been participating in over a number of weeks. Prior to the day at Firhill, the SRtRC education team had visited both schools delivering 3 separate workshops looking at what racism is, why people move around the world, and a refugees prejudice workshop, culminating in how to safely challenge racism.
The event at Partick Thistle FC brought the young people together to celebrate the fantastic work they have been doing in class and to learn how to effectively challenge racism in all walks of life. The excitement of the kids and even their teachers was evident as then they received a tour of Firhill Stadium.
After a packed morning the young people had the opportunity to become media journalists as part of a role play activity, posing some tough questions to a guest panel.
The panel included Partick Thistle manager Gary Caldwell, players Gary Harkins and Jo Cardle, Anas Sarwar MSP, and Stephen Canale of Police Scotland.
Thank you to all at Partick Thistle FC for making this such an inspiring event for your local young people.
