Isra Mohammed is first SRtRC Youth Ambassador
Back in December 2015, Isra Mohammed received national press coverage for taking a stand against racism at school. When her younger sister and brother both experienced racism at school from other young people, Isra told her year group about it in a special assembly. It was well received and countered Islamophobia and misconceptions about Islam.
Ged Grebby, SRtRC Chief Executive said “When I heard about Isra’s presentation through the press I was really impressed that she had the courage to speak out about racism and Islamophobia to her peers. Since then I invited Isra to talk to our staff team about her experience.
“Show Racism the Red Card is in the process of establishing a Youth Ambassadors programme, which will help young people raise awareness of racism following training with SRtRC. I am delighted that Isra is our first Youth Ambassador.”
Recently Ged went and caught up with Isra and asked her about her experiences 5 months after her initial presentation. Check it out below
