SRtRC Scotland will be kicking off 2016 with a number of educational events!
Show Racism the Red Card is working with football clubs throughout 2016 to organise anti-racism and anti-sectarianism educational events for young people. For more information or to arrange attendance, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
6 anti-racism educational events with football clubs were organised during 2015, reaching a combined audience of over 400 young people, while 9 anti-sectarian educational events were delivered to grassroots football clubs and hard to reach groups, engaging over 160 young people. Thanks to funding from the Scottish Government Equalities Unit and Community Safety Unit, over 500 young people were provided the opportunity to think of the world in a critical way, in order to develop a socially conscious worldview and to become active citizens.
During 2016 the Show Racism the Red Card campaign will be organising educational events that focus on racism with a particular emphasis on the difficulties faced by migrants and refugees whilst simultaneously celebrating the positive impact of diverse communities within Scotland. Moreover, the SRtRC team will also be tackling sectarian attitudes and behaviour through a number of educational events.
2016 kicked off with a day of anti-racism education at Partick Thislte FC, with MSP Jamie Hepburn, Police Scotland and Sean Welsh and Mathias Pogba from Partick Thistle inspiring young people between educational workshops.
