Show Racism the Red Card England and Scotland teams worked together to deliver a packed Fringe event at the UNISON Annual Conference in Glasgow on Wednesday, sponsored by long time supporters Thompsons Solicitors.
The Meeting was chaired by Liz Snape, UNISON Assistant General Secretary and speakers included Stephen Cavalier, Chief Executive of Thompsons Solicitors, Clare Williams, UNISON Regional Convener as well as Show Racism the Red Card’s Chief Executive Ged Grebby and Ex-professional footballers and Red Card coaches, Olivier Bernard and Derek Ferguson.
There was standing room only to see the world excusive of a new Scottish film on immigration called This is My Home made by up and coming film company Walnut Wasp.
The attendees also heard speakers describe the essential education work being carried out by all four Show Racism the Red Card teams across the UK and calling for Union branch support to carry on educational delivery throughout the UK to combat racism and specifically the damaging narratives around immigration and Islamophobia.
A number of delegates took to Twitter to share their experiences of the meeting:
