Show Racism the Red Card Scotland has been working across City of Edinburgh, Perth and Kinross, South Lanarkshire, Inverclyde and East Renfrewshire Local authorities delivering transformative anti-racism education with children and young people in schools.
Our workshops encourage participants to reflect on their own world view in order to reject prejudice thought which can lead to discriminatory action, a cause of disadvantage and inequality for individuals who belong to Black and minority ethnic groups.
In March 2015 alone this has equated to…
103 hours of delivery
21 primary schools
670 young people participating
“Pupils were made to feel at ease to discuss and ask questions. Good mixture of presenting and opportunities for pupil involvement, discussion, group work etc. Everything was discussed and addressed in a respectful manner”
“The facilitator, Gillian, immediately engaged with the children and presented the activities in a very supportive, non-threatening environment”
“I am more than happy to endorse the work you do within schools.
The workshop materials were very thought provoking and prompted lots of discussion. Thanks to the excellent presenter, the children were able to explore their views on issues such as stereotyping and prejudice as well as racism in a very non-threatening, supportive environment. The addition of the Fun and Fitness session, again lead by a very enthusiastic presenter, engaged all pupils and made for a very memorable day”
