Gala Fairydean Rovers have become the first club from the Highland or Lowland League to affiliate to the Show Racism the Red Card initiative. Before Saturday’s home game against Dalbeattie Star, players from the club held aloft red cards with the organisations logo. Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s anti-racism educational charity and was established in January 1996. The organisation utilises the high-profile status of football and football players to help tackle racism in society.
Gala Fairydean Rovers Secretary Graeme McIver said;
"Gala Fairydean Rovers are determined to be an inclusive, welcoming and family friendly club. We strive to engage with people from across our community with diverse backgrounds, experiences, characteristics and attributes. We want people engaging with the club to feel valued and an integral part of what we are trying to achieve. We will not tolerate any kind of foul and abusive language, threatening or sectarian behaviour, comments about a person's race, religion, creed, nationality or sexual orientation. We look forward to working with Show Racism the Red Card to help promote a message of understanding and tolerance."
