Overview of educational work delivered by SRtRC Education teams

Show Racism the Red Card (England) carried out educational workshops throughout England during October, delivered by the Education teams in the North-East and South-East.
Throughout October the SRtRC (England) Education teams worked to collectively deliver positive and productive workshops and events across England:
96 hours of workshop activities, excluding assemblies and fun fitness sessions
1719 pupils participated
13 Primary schools
6 Secondary schools
In the North East, the Education team delivered 20 workshops to schools across the region. 884 students were engaged by the team, who delivered over 38 hours of workshop activities, in 8 Primary schools and 4 Secondary schools.
In the Southern region, the Education team delivered 30 workshops in areas such as Southend on Sea, Wandsworth, Grantham and Essex. 835 students participated in workshops delivered by the team, who delivered 58 hours of workshop activities, in 5 Primary schools and 2 Secondary schools.
The South East team also completed the Hate Crime training pilot which was launched last month and funded through the Essex PCC. The success of the pilot means that staff from SRtRC are now accredited hate crime ambassadors including Francis Duku, Lionel Morgan, Leviathen Hendricks, Manisha Tailor, Osei Sankofa, Steve Goodsell and Laura Watkins.

SRtRC and Southend of Sea Borough Council organised an event to celebrate Black History Month for young people from a local school. The Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) event took place at Southend Civic Centre and involved fun activities, educational and open discussions about racism, music and food from different cultures was served. Darsey, one of the pupils who attended the event said,”I liked asking the questions. I felt safe in the presence of experts who knew what they were talking about.”
