Trainee teachers receive our anti-racism training
An overall excellent conference. An eye opener to how vast racism is and even changed many of my views. Very useful and friendly staff!
Cardiff Metropolitan PGCE Student
As part of our on-going partnership with NUT Cymru, we were delighted to deliver our training to students on the PGCE courses at both Swansea and Cardiff Metropolitan Universities. The training was delivered to over 100 trainee teachers on both courses. As well as the training, the students all receive a USB with all our resources on which they can then refer to and use once they are working in schools. The response from the students was fantastic, as 98% of students reported that, up until that point, they had received no anti-racism training.
Following the workshops, 63% of the students said they would feel confident dealing with a racist incident in the classroom, the figure was 34% prior to the sessions. We are looking forward to delivering to all the remaining trainee teachers in Wales by the end of the 2013/14 academic year which will help the teachers as they embark on their teaching careers. We are very grateful to NUT Cymru for supporting this much needed training.
