Chelsea's Assistant Manager Eddie Newton attends our charity fundraising event
Stars of stage and screen, and footballers past and present donned their boots at Bromley FC to show their support for Show Racism the Red Card. You can view the highlights from the day online!
Representatives from Chelsea Football Club, Crystal Palace and Charlton Football Clubs were among those supporting a celebrity football match at Bromley FC on Sunday 23rd September, which saw Tamer Hassan's celebrity XI beat Shane Richie's celebrity XI 4-2.
Following the match, a fundraising meal was held at the club. Chelsea's Assistant Manager Eddie Newton donated a Chelsea shirt signed by the entire squad. This raised £300 for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust at the auction.
Chelsea Football Club has been a great supporter of our campaign for over 15 years, indeed Eddie himself appeared on the 1997 edition edition of our SRtRC film alongside Ganfranco Zola, Steve Clarke and Frank Sinclair.
Our brand new film features both Didier Drogba (interviewed whilst at Chelsea) and Florent Malouda and will be launched next month.
The event raised £3150 for Show Racism the Red Card. Our thanks go to Lydia Frempong of Butterfly PR for organising a brilliant day.
