Show Racism the Red Card condemns all forms of racism
Racism and sectarianism are unacceptable in all aspects of society, including football, and Show Racism the Red Card will continue to campaign and educate against such behaviour. We work proactively with young people and adults to promote our anti-racism / anti-sectarianism message and highlight the dangers of racism / sectarianism.
There should be no place for the type of abusive, racist comments which Maurice Edu, Sone Aluko and Steven Naismith are receiving via Twitter, such comments are totally unacceptable and Show Racism the Red Card Scotland condemns these comments and calls for an end to them.
Ged Grebby, Chief Executive, Show Racism the Red Card, said: “The impact of online abuse can be incredibly damaging and in recent years, vicious and offensive comments sent via Twitter and Facebook are a growing reality. It is vital that the targets of racist abuse see that this is not something they should put up with and that action will be taken if they report such incidents. I believe there is a dual responsibility for the police to deal with perpetrators, and for Twitter to play a greater role in protecting users from abuse.”
