Our Welsh office recently held two workshops in conjunction with Street Football Wales in Swansea and Newport.
This project is essential to provide opportunities and information to BME and NEETS groups, these need support and guidance for them to get invovled in coaching football and volunteering across Wales, this will have a positive impact on the individual’s lives and on the wider community.

We recently delivered a workshop in conjunction with Street Football Wales in Swansea and Newport based at Play Football. Over the two workshops around 25 candidates took part.
The participants, who some are also part of the Street Football Wales recreational league come from a varied background, many who are socially excluded from society and are homeless.
The workshop is a big step to help them take an active role in their own lives through achievement and self development.
Our Introduction to coaching Workshop is a 2 hour introduction to the Football Association of Wales Level 1 (Leaders Award) coaching Certificate that is delivered alongside Welsh Football Trust BME development officer Mizan Rahman.
It is aimed towards anyone who has difficulties accessing information or does not feel confident to access the Level 1 course direct; specifically with BME groups and NEETS individuals.
The first hour is an indoor based session which includes discussions of what to expect from the official Level 1 course, the benefits of qualifications and who they can help the individuals in terms of employment and opportunities to coach.
Candidates will then have the opportunity during the second hour to take part in practical football coaching sessions, which will demonstrate some examples of what will be covered and learnt on the official Level 1 course.

Kerri Harris from Street Football Wales shared his thoughts on the project, “SFW is proud to be working closely with the Show Racism the Red Card Wales campaign and offer this training as part of our player development training programme. The 1st ever training course was delivered on the 6th June in Play Football Swansea by Jason Webber and Mizan Rhaman (Welsh Football Trust). Everyone enjoyed the workshop and has now taken that 1st step on the coaching ladder.”
SRtRC will be delivering further courses in partnership with SFW and will be working in conjunction with the Welsh Football Trust to deliver a Level 1 course for the participants of these two introduction workshops in the coming weeks.
