Show Racism the Red Card at Sunderland City Council

Pupils from Richard Avenue Primary School and Barnes Junior School attend The Council Chamber in Sunderland Civic Centre for an afternoon of anti-racism education.

More than 80 young people from Sunderland got the chance to learn about the dangers of racism and Stereotyping at an event in Sunderland. The event, which was attended by a Number of Elected Members from Sunderland Council, consisted of an activity about stereotyping, and screening of Show Racism the Red Card’s main Educational DVD.

After the film, the school pupils had the opportunity to ask questions about racism to SRtRC coaches, Gary Bennett, John Anderson, Olivier Bernard and Trevor Benjamin who shared to panel with SRtRC Chief Executive, Ged Grebby and Sunderland Women’s FC player Lynsey Bell.

Everyone left the event with a greater understanding of racism, a Sunderland AFC poster signed by the panel and a goody bag.
