Primary seven pupils from St Margaret’s Primary School attended Stirling Albion FC on Thursday 5th May 2011 for a Show Racism / Bigotry the Red Card Event.
The event featured two workshops, one included a screening of Show Racism the Red Card’s anti-racism educational film and a question and answer session on racism, the second half of the event had a focus on anti-sectarianism.
A selection of Stirling Albion FC first team players, ex professionals Derek Ferguson and Michael Weir were present on the day to talk about their experiences of racism / sectarianism and offer advice on how to deal with, and combat, racism / sectarianism whenever it occurs.
Amanda Peebles, Show Racism the Red Card, said:
“These kinds of workshops are a great way of engaging young people with our anti-racist / anti-sectarian message and equipping them to deal with racist / sectarian attitudes and behaviours. Schools in the area are very keen to engage with the campaign and the young people we have worked with are very positive about it."
“Show Racism the Red Card would like to thank Active Stirling for the use of a meeting room within Forthbank Performance Sport Centre for this event”.
