A panel of Hearts players & legends deliver anti-racist message to local school pupils
Around 150 Primary 7 young people from 5 schools in Edinburgh joined Show Racism the Red Card for an event promoting anti-racism.
Children from Craigroyston Primary, Granton Primary, Gilmerton Primary, St Josephs Primary and Bruntsfield Primary took part in an afternoon of activities, highlighting the dangers of racism which included a screening of the Show Racism the Red Card anti-racism DVD.
The afternoon also gave the young people the opportunity for a question and answer session with an invited panel of guests including Hearts first team players, Ruben Palazuelos, Ryan Stevenson and Ryan McGowan. Also on the panel was Hearts FC legend, Gary Mackay and former hearts player Jose Quitongo, with Mike Pringle from the Scottish Liberal Democrats and Frances Smith from City of Edinburgh Council.
Dee Kinning, Education Worker for Show Racism the Red Card said “this was a fantastic afternoon with excellent input from so many local young people. The support we receive from Hearts FC has always been strong and we hope to work with them closely in the future to promote a strong message of anti-racism in Scotland”
