SRtRC visited Victoria Park for an afternoon of anti-racism activities and were joined by some special guests.
Show Racism the Red Card held an afternoon event on Monday 4th April at Hartlepool United’s Victoria Park, Lots of learning and fun was had by the attending Hartlepool Primary Schools, St Josephs, Lynnfield and Brougham.
All were welcomed to the event by Craig Bankhead the North East Education Manager for SRtRC. Next up the children took part in an anti-racism workshop delivered by Lizz Bennett and Laura Pidcock the young people learnt what racism is and then went onto explore stereotypes followed by the viewing of the SRtRC DVD.
The event concluded with a Q&A panel, pupils from attending schools had an opportunity to ask questions about racism to the panel of ex-professions footballers and SRtRC coaches Dean Gordon, Curtis Flemming, John Anderson, Olivier Bernard, Trevor Benjamin, Gary Bennett and special guests Hartlepool United players Scott Flinders and Gary Liddle. Each questions won a prize of a SRtRC football and the best three questions all got a SRtRC t-shirt too, all young people left with a SRtRC wrist band, badge, stickers and a signed Hartlepool United poster.
