Liverpool's Portugese midfielder joins young people at Anfield to Show Racism the Red Card.
I'm a school student and attended the Show Racism the Red Card event today. I loved all of it and I thank you very much!
Show Racism the Red Card visited Anfield, the home of Liverpool Football Club, for an event with 140 local schoolchildren.
The event was supported by Raul Meireles, Liverpool’s Portugese international midfielder signing autographs for all the young people who attended. Former Liverpool Captain Phil Neal and Brian Hall, the club’s PR Officer also attended. We were also joined by Leroy Rosenior, England Women's Goalkeeper Rachel Brown, LFC Social Inclusion Officer Rishi Jain, Robert Brennan from Sefton Equalities Partnership and Geoff Dunn from Liverpool Schools Parliament.
All youngsters attending the event were given a Liverpool FC poster. After viewing our DVD featuring top players and managers, the young people were able to ask questions of the panel on racism. The panel answered all the questions in depth helping the young people to understand the issues in more detail.
The questions were excellent and the panel handled all the questions very well, three lucky youngsters won a SRtRC T-shirt signed by Raul Meireles for the best questions as judged by the panel.
Show Racism the Red Card would like to thank Liverpool FC and in particular Brian Hall and Sue Griffiths for organising the event. Sincere thanks also to the panel for taking the time to come along and contribute to the success of the event.
Finally thank you to Liverpool First, Liverpool City Council and Sefton Equalities Partnership for their continued sponsorship and support for our campaign.
