We are running a series of 10 anti-sectarian events across 3 regional areas in Scotland (the West, East and South East) targeting young people (under-14s to under -18s) involved in grass root football.
The main aim of this initiative is to promote amongst the young participants an overall message of equality and respect whilst they engage in a healthy and exciting sporting initiative. The workshops are delivered by our Education Team in conjunction with Red Card ex-professional players.
· workshops focused on activities designed to encourage discussion and promoting positive solutions around issues of intolerance (i.e. sectarianism and religious bigotry)
· activities sourced from our existing educational material, with a particular emphasis on our new anti-sectarian educational resource called ‘Rivals not Enemies’
· a football coaching session with Show Racism the Red Card ex-professional players
Each event mirrors the 90 minutes match experience and involves two teams of mixed ages and genders. The first half is dedicated to the football coaching experience, whilst the second half focuses on the workshop activities. Half-time healthy snacks will be provided to all our participants.
