Anti-racism organisations back FA Charity of the Year bid.

Kick It Out, The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and the Runnymede Trust all back our bid to become the FA Charity of the Year 2011.

Show Racism the Red Card has this week received some fantastic support from three high profile anti-racist organisations; Kick it Out, The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and The Runnymede Trust.

The Chair of Kick it Out, Lord Herman Ouseley said, "I am writing as Chair of Kick it Out, footballs equality and inclusion campaign, to show support for Show Racism the Red Card's bid to be one of the The Football Association's Charities of the Year 2011. 

"Kick it Out has enjoyed collaborating with SRtRC in its work with local communities and raising awareness of the damage caused by bigotry and prejudice.  We especially value the high quality of work undertaken by SRtRC staff and volunteers.  

"SRtRC has consistently had an excellent track record of anti-racism over a number of years, particularly in the field of education, and would be a worthy recipient of this honour."

Doreen Lawrence OBE (pictured above at our London City Hall event this week) said, "I was honoured to be asked to speak at one of your events earlier in the year and I am very happy to support your bid.  Keep up the good work."

And The Runnymede Trust, the UK's leading independent race equality think tank, has said this in support, "Runnymede Trust wholeheartedly supports SRtRC to become FA Charity of the Year because of its successful track record of delivering anti-racism education through sport.  Through its work with both young people and footballers as role-models, it has enabled people with the resources to challenge racism on both the local and national level while also promoting a love of football.  Britain has come a long way in terms of challenging racism, but there is still work to be done.  As FA Charity of the Year, SRtRC will have the opportunity to spread this vital work of promoting social justice and fair play to thousands more."
