Over 100 young people from Blackpool schools joined the SRtRC Team and Patron Jason Euell for an afternoon of anti-racism education.
Another succesful event at Bloomfield Road with Blackpool FC with over 100 young people from 8 schools in Blackpool joining the Show Racism the Red Card team for an afternoon of anti-racism education.
The session began with an interactive workshop exploring what racism is, multi-culturalism and what the young people can do to help stop racism. Following the workshop the young people watched the Show Racism the Red Card DVD and were then very excited to meet Blackpool striker and Show Racism the Red Card patron, Jason Euell.
Jason was the only member of the panel and answered all of the young people's questions about racism. Jason suffered racial abuse last season from a spectator whilst on the substitute's bench. He told the young people of this experience, how it made him feel and explained how the fan was arrested and banned from football stadiums for 3 years.
The 3 best questions of the day won some excellent prizes: a Blackpool goody bag and Show Racism the Red Card t-shirts. Every member of the audience left with an autographed Blackpool FC poster and Show Racism the Red Card goody bag.
Following the event Jason Euell was interviewed by Blackpool FC and the video can be watched on our YouTube channel.
Show Racism the Red Card would like to thank all schools who participated, Jason Euell and especially John Rogers who helped organise the day. We very much look forward to a return trip to this Premier League club.
