Sam Duckworth and band are on a UK tour - we joined him in Newcastle
Sam Duckworth (AKA Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly) is a passionate anti-racism campaigner, who has been involved in events with Love Music, Hate Racism and Hope Not Hate. This summer he joined Show Racism the Red Card's Leroy Rosenior at a "Beating the BNP" discussion at Glastonbury Festival.
We were delighted that Sam showed his support to our campaign by inviting us to hold a stall at his gig at Newcastle's Cluny.
Following support from David's Lyre, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly played an energetic and uplifting set to a joyful crowd. He showcased new album tracks from 'The Uprising' released earlier this month as well as older live favourites such as "Call Me Ishmael". Midway through his set, Sam took a few minutes to address the crowd. He thanked Show Racism the Red Card for coming along, encouraging everyone to come and speak to us after the gig. Sam spoke inspirationally about the power we have to make a difference in our communities and encouraged us all to get active in fighting for issues we are passionate about. He spoke about his involvement in anti-racist campaigning, particularly in ongoing efforts to quash the EDL and BNP. He outlined the importance of challenging all forms of racism and of building a society we can be proud of, based on tolerance and respect.
GCWCF is touring throughout September and October - we wish him every success with the album and tour dates.
