Ormiston Primary visited Hibernian FC Training Centre as part of a Show Racism the Red Card / Hibernian FC anti-racist event.
On Monday 9th November 2009, P7 Pupils went to the Hibernian Training Ground. We walked down and we were escorted by the police. We were taking part in the Show Racism the Red Card campaign. We watched a video from the campaign and then had a question and answer round with some players and the manager.
At the end, whoever had the best question won either a signed Hibs top or a signed Hibs ball. We won and chose the Hibs top, it was size large. We learnt a lot during our afternoon at the ground including how the best football players feel when they are on the receiving end of racism and how a 14year old boy called Nathan was going to leave a football team because the racism was so bad.
Now we know all this information we are sure that the pupils who went will do what’s right and report any racism they hear or any they are on the receiving end of racism.
