Show Racism the Red Card visited Adams Park for the third time in three seasons for an educational event with Wycombe Wanderers FC.
Working in partnership with the Football in the Community department, SRtRC were lucky enough to have 3 primary schools from the local area attend this event and have two members of the first team squad attend to take part in the Q&A, Matt Bloomfield and Chris Westwood.
This two-hour educational event was officially opened by Yvette Thomas, Policy and Equality Manager of Buckinghamshire County Council. Yvette has attended all of the SRtRC events at Adams Park and welcomed the audience along.
The remainder of the first hour of the event was given over to educational activities run by SRtRC Honorary Patron and football coach, Leroy Rosenior and Campaign Worker, Gavin Sutherland. The activities saw the audience of Year 5 & 6 pupils readily participate and it provided some good food for thought for the young people’s questions later in the event.
The second hour saw the screening of the SRtRC film and the Q&A session take place. There were no shortage of questions to the players and other panellists, which included Yvette Thomas, Leroy and SRtRC’s Regional Manager in the South & South East of England, Sarah Soyei.
A further incentive had been provided by the club, with a signed ball being given to the young person who asked the panel’s favourite question. SRtRC had also provided some T-Shirts for runners-up which Chris and Matt signed. Everyone in the audience was able to take away a copy of the new SRtRC / Wycombe Wanderers FC poster as well as a SRtRC goody bag.
The event was captured on film for Wycombe Wanderers TV and photographed by the club’s official photographer Ben Campbell. SRtRC would like to than Wycombe Wanderers for hosting another SRtRC event and in particular Dave Evans and Aqeel Akram at the club for all of their hard-work in organising the event.
Our thanks go to all of the panellists for their time and SRtRC look forward to more work with Wycombe Wanderers and in the Buckinghamshire area in future.
