Show Racism the Red Card got the 2009-10 season’s programme of educational events at football clubs off to a fine start with Peterborough United.
This was the third time that the Posh had hosted a SRtRC event and the club agreed to host an extended 2 hour format event, allowing an extra hour of educational activities run by SRtRC staff before the screening of the film and Q&A session with players took place.
Around 80 Year 5 & 6 pupils from four different Peterborough primary schools attended the event. They participated readily in activities organised by SRtRC Education, Events and Information Worker, Laura Fleck and SRtRC Honorary Patron and football coach, Leroy Rosenior.
The educational session paved the way for a very good question and answer session following the film screening, containing contributions from a panel containing Peterborough United players Charlie Lee and Shaun Batt as well as Leroy Rosenior and the SRtRC team.
All of the young people were able to take away SRtRC goody-bags and new SRtRC / Peterborough United posters signed by the players. The favourite question of the day was awarded a VIP trip to a home fixture at the London Road stadium.
SRtRC would like to thank the players for attending and Peterborough United FC for hosting the event and in particular Phil Adlam and Nick for their help in organising the event.
This event was the last educational event that Laura Fleck would attend as a member of SRtRC staff, leaving the campaign to start a new job and all of the team at SRtRC would like to thank Laura for her hard work on this event and many others over the last few seasons.
