15 Years of Migrant Voice

For years, this country has debated the impact of migration and what should be done about it. But how can you make any decisions without consulting the people it will affect the most–migrants? This has been Migrant Voice’s approach for the last 15 years: 15 years of speaking up on the challenges migrants face while in the UK.

In their own words:

“We were not going to remain silent: we began speaking for ourselves with other migrants on the issues that affect us to challenge the debate and transform society.”

Migrant Voice is a migrant-led national organisation building a community of migrant voices to speak for themselves and call for justice for all. They put migrant voices at the centre of the migration debate by developing the skills and confidence of migrants, including asylum seekers and refugees across the UK.

This year marks their 15th anniversary of campaigning and aiding migrants across the country, with the intention to minimise the scapegoating they experience and improve their quality of life while they stay in this multicultural nation.

We are proud supporters of all the work Migrant Voice has done and continues to do. We have been fortunate to partner with them on various projects and events – from speaking at our APPGs and conference fringe meetings to the Migration, Making Britain/Scotland Great campaign (migration lesson plans are still available on our free Education Hub).

Ged Grebby, Chief Executive of Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) shares:

“Show Racism the Red Card are proud to have worked with MV for 14 years on a number of key projects. The issue of Migration has been used to increase hostility and racism in the UK over many decades now and having MV as a partner has been vital to our work in combating racism.

Congratulations to Nazek and everyone at MV on 15 years of outstanding work.”
