Wolverhampton Wanderers FC Educational Event

Yesterday members from the North-East campaign team travelled too the West Midlands to visit the impressive Molineux Stadium, the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.
After setting up in the impressive Sir Jack Haywood Suite we were joined by a class of Y6 pupils from a local primary school. The afternoon session started off with the young people taking part in our anti-racism workshop. The workshop introduces the idea and importance of critical thinking. We also discuss what our ‘World View’ is and the types of things that can influence our own ‘World View’. We then put our new understanding into action when working through a group activity that challenged our potential stereotypes with the outcome being the young people understanding what a stereotype is and also giving them them the tools to being able to spot a racist incident is and importantly how to challenge this safely and effectively.
Throughout the day the young people had been asked to think of questions, about the topics they had learnt, to ask a panel of guests that would be joining us. Long term friend of SRtRC and ex professional footballer David Kelly and Wolves young prospect Ethan Mcleod joined our very own Seth Ejukwu to answers the young peoples thoughtful questions.
Huge thanks to Marnie and the team at Wolves Foundation for having us! We are already looking forward to the next event!
