Friday 23rd October marked the first annual Show Racism the Red Card Wear Red Day initiative.

Throughout England, Scotland and Wales schools, businesses and campaign supporters took part in a range of activities to make a unified stand against racism and raise funds to support the delivery of anti-racism education.

Young people in schools ditched their uniforms and paid £1 each to wear red for the day, with many also choosing to hold bake sales and other fund raising activities to support Show Racism the Red Card.

A wide range of trade union members, businesses and organisations also showed their support by wearing red and raising money via staff donations and public collections.

A number of high profile campaign supporters also got involved including the government’s Sports Minister Tracy Crouch and Sunderland AFC stars Jack Rodwell and Younnes Kaboul.
