Billy Bragg: Beating the BNP at Glastonbury, June 26th 2010

Show Racism the Red Card made their Glastonbury Festival debut at Billy Bragg's Left Field Stage

More about this event...

The Leftfield Stage returned to Worthy Farm this year bringing with it a unique blend of "Pop and Politics".  The stage was curated by Billy Bragg, and Show Racism the Red Card were delighted to have been invited to take part in the afternoon debate on Beating the BNP.

Leroy was joined by
Get Cape Wear Cape Fly (AKA Sam Duckworth), Reverend and the Makers’s John McClure  and Tony Kearns, Deputy General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union for a lively discussion, chaired by Tim Lezard, about the importance of working together to combat the Far Right.

Show Racism the Red Card felt honoured to be a part of Leftfield Stage and to share our anti-racist message to a tent packed with festival goers, eager to learn more about how to beat racism.  The crowd were inspired and empowered by Leroy and the other panellists and Billy Bragg closed the session with the really important message that the responsibility of beating the BNP lies with us: we must work together and support one another as anti-racist campaigners.  Together, we can make a difference and win the fight against the far right.

Thank you very much to Billy Bragg for inviting us to be a part of his Glastonbury programme.
