From Sunday 3rd June to Wednesday 6th June, the GMB will host their annual congress which will take place in Brighton. Show Racism the Red Card will be hosting a fringe meting on Tuesday 5th June, from 12:45 - 13:45 in the Syndicate Wing Room 1 of the Brighton Centre.
The speakers will include Simone Pound (Head of Equality and Diversity, PFA), Stephen Cavalier (CEO Thompsons Solicitors), Tim Roache (General Secretary, GMB), Tony Higgins (European Division Vice President, FIFPro), Ged Grebby (Chief Executive, Show Racism the Red Card) and Taranjit Chana (London Region Member, GMB).
Show Racism the Red Card Chief Executive, Ged Grebby, said;
“The GMB are major sponsor of our campaign and for the third year in a row we are doing a stall and meeting at their conference next week. It is great to have the General Secretary Tim Roache speaking at the meeting. Tim has been a passionate advocate of our campaign and ensured that the GMB are fully supporting our anti-racism message. A survey in March 2018 by 'People Management' found that 52% of UK employees have witnessed racism in the workplace over the last year, so we still have a long way to go in tackling racism in the workplace.”
GMB General Secretary, Tim Roache, said;
"GMB always has and always will tackle racism wherever it raises its ugly head. We work closely with a number of organisations but are very proud that this is our third year as a major sponsor of Show Racism the Red Card. No-one is born racist, so what better way to tackle racism than with young people through their two passions of education and sport. A perfect combination just like GMB and SRtRC."
If you are at the GMB 2018 Congress please feel free to attend the fringe meeting on Tuesday 5th, we look forward to seeing you there!
