Aberystwyth Town FC Educational Club event

We visited Aberystwyth Town FC  for the last Educational club event of the season.

Young people from Ysgol Ciliau Parc attended the Park Avenue to take part in our educational club event for the day.

Education Workers Steve Jenkins delivered a workshop in the morning to the young people educating them on the topic of racism using interactive activities and discussions.

Pupils prior to attending the ground at school were set a task to prepare for the afternoon's anti-racism “press conference”.

Pupils had to create a newspaper name and were tasked with researching racism in sport and society. Pupils also were required to read newspapers and online blogs to explore how they are designed and written.

From the information they had learnt they had to prepare questions for the press conference at the event to help produce their article for their newspaper after the event.

In the afternoon pupils watched our educational film, which gave them the last opportunity to obtain further knowledge on the topic before the question and answer session in our “media/press conference event”

Aber players Mathew Jones and Ffiona Evans attended the event to take part in the press conference joined by former professional player Steve Jenkins.

Pupils now in the role of newspaper journalists were selected to ask questions, introduce themselves and the newspaper they “worked” for followed by their question.

The journalists posed some really challenging questions for the players and had clearly researched and planned some well thought out questions.

The prize winners for asking the best question was Freya and Ella who won a signed match ball, along with an SRtRC goodie bag.

When the pupils return to school they will use all the information they had learnt at the event along with the responses from the panel to write and design their article.

We would like to the school for attending the event and the club for working in partnership to host the event and for providing the prizes for the pupils.

Wnaethom ymweld â CPD Aberystwyth ar gyfer digwyddiad clwb olaf y tymor.

Daeth pobl ifanc o Ysgol Ciliau Parc draw i stadiwm Park Avenue am y diwrnod i gymryd rhan yn ein gweithgareddau addysgiadol.

Bu’r Gweithiwr Addysg Steve Jenkins yn cyflwyno gweithdy yn y bore, yn addysgu’r pobl ifanc ar y pwnc o hiliaeth gan ddefnyddio gweithgareddau rhyngweithiol a thrafodaethau.

Cyn mynychu’r digwyddiad, gosodwyd her i’r plant baratoi ar gyfer “cynhadledd i’r wasg” gwrth-hiliaeth yn y prynhawn.

Roedd yn rhaid i’r disgyblion greu enw i’w papur newydd ac ymchwilio hiliaeth o fewn chwaraeon a chymdeithas. Gofynwyd iddynt, hefyd, ddarllen papurau newydd a blogiau ar-lein i ymchwilio sut i ddylunio ac ysgrifennu’r fath erthygl.

Gan ddefnyddio’r wybodaeth roeddent wedi ei dysgu aethant ati i baratoi cwestiynnau ar gyfer y gynhadledd wasg er mwyn eu cynorthwyo gyda deunydd eu erthyglau papur newydd.

Yn y prynhawn bu’r disgyblion yn gwylio ein ffilm addysgiadol, a roddodd gyfle olaf iddynt ennill gwybodaeth ar y pwnc cyn y sesiwn cwesiwn ac ateb/cynhadledd y wasg.

Mynychodd chwaraewyr Aber Mathew Jones a Ffiona Evans y digwyddiad i gymryd rhan yn y sesiwn holi, ynghŷd â’r cyn-chwaraewr Cymru Steve Jenkins.

Cyflwynodd y ‘newyddiadurwyr’ nifer o gwestiynnau heriol a diddorol, yn dangos cryn ymchwil a deallusrwydd.

Ennillodd Freya ac Ellie y gwobrau ar gyfer y cwestiynnau gorau (pêl-droed wedi’i arwyddo gan y chwaraewyr, a bag o nwyddau SRtRC/DyCCiH).

Ar ôl dychwelyd i’r ysgol bydd y disgyblion yn defnyddio yr holl wybodaeth wnaethant ddysgu o ganlyniad i’r digwyddiad, gan gynnwys atebion y panel, i ysgrifennu a dylunio eu herthyglau.

Hoffwn ddiolch yn fawr i’r ysgol am fynychu’r digwyddiad, a’r clwb am gyd-weithio gyda ni er mwyn cynnal y diwrnod a darparu gwobrau i’r plant.
