Show Racism the Red Card note the decision of UEFA’s control, ethics and disciplinary body not to take any further action against Spartak Moscow’s Leonid Mironov after allegations that he had used discriminatory language towards Liverpool FC striker Rhian Brewster.
SRtRC recognise the difficulties faced and the courage shown by Rhian Brewster throughout the process and would like to place on record our admiration for the way that he has conducted himself in very trying circumstances, for anyone, let alone a 17 year old.
We echo Liverpool FC's stance that Rhian has displayed incredible maturity, dignity and leadership in bringing focus to this issue and Show Racism the Red Card will do whatever we can to support him.
It is our hope that UEFA understand and recognise the importance of ensuring that the most effective processes are in place to tackle racism at all levels of the game and the inherent danger that some people may take the wrong message from this decision.
We must all stand up against racism in all its forms, and today, Show Racism the Red Card stand shoulder to shoulder with Rhian Brewster.
